In 2014, I got fired. I had just closed $1 Billion. I’ll tell you how it went down:
I had five meetings at five different branches around the city. And my boss asked if she could come along with me. I was like, “Cool. Because I’m sure the team would like to hear what your take on the market is.” And at the last meeting, as everybody’s leaving the room, she just goes cold. She handed me my walking papers.
I was scared. What was going to happen? The fear just kept creeping inside of me. Remember, this is ten years ago. We don’t have recruiters the way we do in a marketplace day. So no one was calling me. No one knew who I was. And I thought people would because I had just closed a $1 billion.
Your brand is your reputation. It’s what everyone is going to say about you when you’re not around. Being fired was probably the best thing that ever happened to me because it forced me to differentiate myself. And today my team ended up being the most profitable group in the company. And we ended up attracting the most loan officers to our company”
